How do I create a vacation message/autoreply in Zimbra?

Users no longer log into Account Services to control the vacation message/autoreply. Users can do that through the Zimbra Webmail Client (ZWC).

To turn on vacationing:

  1. Using your PennKey and password, log into the ZWC.
  2. Choose the Preferences tab in right top of the Mail screen.
  3. Choose the Mail item in left-hand menu of the Preferences screen.
  4. In the Mail Preferences screen, go down to the Receiving Messages section and to turn vacationing on:
    • Check Send auto-reply message.
    • Fill in your vacation message in the text box supplied.
    • Optional: If you want the system to start your vacation messaging and end your vacation messaging for you, you can check and a supply a Start Date and an End date. If you don't use this option, please remember to come back and turn your vacationing off when it's no longer needed.
  5. Click Save in the upper left-hand corner of the screen.

To turn off vacationing:

  1. Using your PennKey and password, log into the ZWC.
  2. Choose the Preferences tab in right top of the Mail screen.
  3. Choose Mail in the left-hand menu of the Preferences screen.
  4. In the Mail Preferences screen, go down to the Receiving Messages section and to turn vacationing off:
    • Uncheck Send auto-reply message.
  5. Click Save in the upper left-hand corner of the screen.
